simpleHome worked with this family throughout the design and construction of their lakeside home. As a family who loves to travel, they were excited to integrate smart home features (including remote access of their home systems) into their new space. They also desired a home that would provide a vacation-like feeling all year long with great music and video inside, and an extensive landscape audio system outside.
Some of the highlights of their home include:
- A landscape speaker system featuring eight satellite speakers hidden in the garden beds, and two underground subwoofers that provide comfortable volume everywhere on their property.
- Two surround sound media rooms with custom built-in cabinets to house the electronics, and speaker bars with custom grills to fit large flat screen displays.
- In-ceiling speakers and in-room keypads provide an easy way to bring background music into any room in the house. The homeowner's iTunes library is automatically synchronized to the audio system without any music management and software copying tools. The streaming Rhapsody music service provides access to commercial free channels of all types of music.
- Twelve thermostats would normally be difficult to control and manage, but a simple Home/Away/Vacation keypad provides convenient set back overrides to manage energy consumption and minimize costs.
- Doorbell integration and discrete cameras at the entry doors enable a snapshot of visitors on the touchpanels and TVs. Custom chimes throughout the house speakers provides assurance that the doorbell will be heard throughout the house and in the backyard.
- Comprehensive lighting control provides dimmed lighting scenes, automatic activity-based scenes (entertain, morning, goodnight, sunset), and even security integration to make the house appear occupied even when the family is away.
- Three in-wall touchpanels, including an in-wall iPad, provide intuitive control of the house from devices that don't get carried away or misplaced.
- An app for the house provides simple iPhone and iPad control of all functions from one app that makes this home a truly simple home!
